Co-creation is an active, creative and social process based on collaboration between stakeholders who need to find solutions to shared challenges. It goes beyond consultancy, crowdsourcing or mass collaboration by facilitating equal collaboration between individuals. Co-creation has been closely linked to companies, but during recent years it has been embraced as a design strategy for the public sector and policy-making processes.

SURE-Farm is a H2020 research project that aims at improving the resilience of European Farming Systems. We are aware that the active participation of relevant agricultural stakeholders is key to reach our goal. With this in mind, SURE-Farm has created a Digital Co-creation Platform to bring together stakeholders, SURE-Makers, who have common interests and wish to share their concerns, experience and knowledge on EU agricultural sector.

The SURE-Makers have recognized experience in Europe and represent the multiple actors related with EU agriculture: Farmers’ organizations, insurance companies, financial Institutions, policy makers, upstream /downstream actors in value chain, research institutes and universities, environmental institutions and consumer organizations.

The aim of the SURE-Farm Digital Co-creation Platform is to co-create solutions to help EU farming systems cope with the most pressing challenges. The specific aim of the Digital Co-creation Platform is to co-create:

  • Improved risk management tools and strategies for economic, social and environmental risks.
  • Opportunities for public-private collaboration in risk management.
  • Policy improvements at EU level.
  • Roadmaps for implementation of resilience enhancing strategies.

We will achieve this goal through the SURE-Makers participation in a mix of diverse activities such as voting, ranking, weighting, brainstorming and moderated and structured discussion forums. The results of these activities will be shared among the SURE-Makers and discussed in order to co-create the final solution of the challenge.

The Digital Co-creation Platform is led by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in collaboration with the SURE-Farm coordinator, Wageningen University and Research (WUR). The activities are moderated by a team of co-creation experts from DIMe Network.

Let's collaborate to solve problems, transcend differences, and use innovation for enhancing the resilience of the EU farming systems.
